RELEVANT EXPERIENCE
Undergraduate Researcher: Shock Tunnel Design May 2007 – September 2007
Lead participant in the research, design, and early construction of a shock tunnel designed to model super-sonic flow conditions in the laboratory. Developed a design that worked within the physical, operational, and financial constraints, and modeled the device capabilities in MatLab. Collaborated with a fluid dynamics lab of similar scale in India to guide selection of materials. Shock tunnel became operational in the spring of 2008.
Graduate Researcher: Mechanical Effects of Disease on Bone August 2011 – August 2013
Thesis: Bone Morphology and Mechanical Properties in Murine Models of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). Advisor: Dr. Virginia Ferguson. Researched the structure-function relationship of the bone tissue in diseased mice. Performed a comparative materials characterization of the mechanical properties and morphological characteristics of the bone of two different inbred strains of mice. Research yielded several peer-reviewed papers and multiple conference presentations and has formed the basis of future research in this field.
