Tasks:
-Investigate existing subsurface conditions and materials.
-Determining their physical/mechanical and chemical properties that are relevant to the project requirements and employ the physical data to evaluate the interaction between the earthworks or structure foundations with the earth materials.
-Utilizing knowledge of soil and rock properties, subsurface exploration techniques and analytical methods to evaluate soil/structure interaction.
-Using various software packages to perform their analytical computations and basic geotechnical engineering methods to evaluate soil settlement, stability of slopes, seepage and lateral stability to provide data, information and analytical results to the senior staff.
-Summarizing, evaluating and presenting field and laboratory data using computer worksheet programs including Microsoft Excel and Sigma Plot.
-Performing geotechnical analyses using computer software including SEEP/W for seepage analyses, SLOPE/W for slope stability analyses and GMS-MODFLOW for groundwater flow simulations.
-Preparing engineering reports under the guidance of senior engineers.
-Coordinating with field personnel to perform subsurface exploration, field tests and construction quality assurance inspection and testing.
-Coordinating with laboratory personnel to perform laboratory testing on soil, geosynthetic and water samples.
-Assisting senior engineers with project management and marketing.
