ENGINEERING PROJECTS
Anaerobic Digester Gas Powered Gas Turbine Engine, Team EnTec, University of Wyoming
• Design project based upon biogas produced by Cheyenne’s Dry Creek Reclamation Facility at which Microsoft is opening an experimental biogas powered data plant in the future. The team first analyzed the methane production and needs of the wastewater treatment plant in accordance with measurement systems and the plant operator. Several methods of energy production were then examined and modeled in detail. After coming to the conclusion that a gas turbine engine was the most economically viable course of action, a system was designed and modeled in further detail. Environmental and social factors were also taken into account
Photovoltaic System Design and Construction
• Designed and built a solar panel to provide power for an air compressor to inflate bicycle tires on campus. The flat PV panel was encased with steel, foam, and a polymer shield and placed on a pole to prevent vandalism. The design consisted of an array of monocrystalline cells approximately 3’ by 5’ and was resistant to weather conditions. It performed accurately as modeled.
Foot Powered Tricycle (Mechanical Design)
• A small team designed and modeled a specialized tricycle based upon provided strict parameters and intermediate mechanics of materials concepts.
Conversion of Natural Gas to Ethylene and Propylene (Economic Analysis)
• In conjunction with chemical engineering students, the olefins industry was examined in detail as well as the effects of recent discoveries in extracting natural gas from shale oil. A detailed economic analysis over the feasibility of building new plants for the production of olefins from natural gas was then conducted, taking the current and future markets into account.
EXPERIENCE
Air Pollution Testing Tech I, Air Pollution Testing, Inc., Arvada, CO, June 2014- Present
• Travelled around the country and performed air quality testing for a number of power plants and mining entities.
• Gained familiarity with assembly and application of equipment including gas analyzers, high quality probes, filter boxes, and moisture trains.
• Got accustomed to and studied in detail many EPA protocols relating to each unique situation and, in many situations, isokinetic flow control.
• Routinely carried out the manual labor that entailed se...
