TIGO-Rwanda, Kigali/Rwanda: Network Operation Engineer Intern May – Dec 2013

•Monitored and performed troubleshooting of communication networks
•Performed daily and weekly system backup routines and generated system performance reports
•Assisted field Engineer in replacing equipment (i.e. Double Radio Unit) and battery regeneration

RWANDA ENERGY GROUP LTD, Kigali: Substation Operator Intern Sep 2010 – Nov 2011

•Managed and monitored electrical network using SCADA - Energy Management System and REF-542Plus tools
•Performed switchgear operations, network synchronization, substation automation, load forecasting, scheduling, and shedding and created energy consumption reports
------------------------------ACADEMIC PROJECTS----------------------------------

SOLAR ENERGY EXPANSION AND ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION: Capstone project, Fall 2014

•Conducted research based on published technical papers to study the impact of photovoltaic (PV) technology that has the ability to capture large amount of sunlight with minimum gas emission on optimization of both solar energy capacity and environment protection. Main finding was that PV technologies that use high efficiency solar cells, concentrators and solar tracking capability can generate large amount of solar power and, thus, reduce usage of highly polluting conventional sources of energy. However, presently they cannot satisfy load with sudden change like high starting current of induction motor

SYSTEM DESIGN PROJECT: Power Systems Analysis Fall 2014

•Designed and analyzed electrical system to add new load of 102MW and correct contingency violations and overload issues. Upgraded system had to keep voltage within 0.95 to 1.05 pu, keep line load within 100% of capacity, and not allow more than two violations after power flow analysis.
•Used Power World Simulator to design a few possible solutions by installing a 138/69 kV transformer at existing substations, adding capacitor bank, selecting appropriate conductors or resizing existing conductors, building a new substation or any combination of the above and selecting the best option based on reliability and cost.

OPTIMIZATION OF DISTRIBUTION CENTERS Summer 2014

• Determined the smallest number and the lowest cost ...
