School projects:
Senior Design: Responsible for designing of reinforcement of spillway walls of Sawpit Debris dam, located in city of Monrovia, by utilizing various methods and alternatives such as buttresses and tiebacks and reinforced concrete concepts. Also, used HEC-RAS to perform hydraulic analysis on the flow of water in the spillway.
Structural Design: Responsible for designing a 2 story steel structured hospital (lateral load building frame system: ordinary steel concentrically brace frames). Designed roof and floor columns, girders, and beams taking into account live, dead and seismic forces, following design criteria of IBC and ASCE. (Used AISC Manual)
Reinforced Concrete: Responsible for designing a 3 story reinforced concrete office building. Designed columns, roof and floor slabs, girders, and beams taking into account bending, deflection, seismic, and shear factors following ACI code guidelines.
Fluid Mechanics Laboratory: Responsible for designing a new culvert with a capacity for a flow rate that was previously not permissible on a bridge that was designed to transport rainwater through a stream at Ascot Park in city of Los Angeles. The goal was to create a model of the bridge in HEC-RAS to have a new capacity that could bear the excess flow rate by remodeling and varying important factors such as the manning’s n and cross sectional area utilizing HEC-RAS software.
