PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Western Digital Corporation, Irvine, CA July 2014 to Present
(Fortune 500 leader in hard disk drive design and manufacturing)
FIT-U (Functional Integrity Test) Engineer
Develop and maintain validation test software for internal hard drive firmware.
• Serve as the primary engineer for developing and debugging two hard drive firmware testing scripts. Requires answering script related questions from other engineers, debugging script related issues, creating custom scripts to help others with testing, and bringing firmware issues to the attention of the relevant firmware engineers.
• Created a 5000 line script in a C-like proprietary programming language which tested the behavior of a new hard drive firmware feature, and its interactions with other hard drive features.
o Researched and created the test cases, and presented them in a test requirements meeting.
o The script exposed two critical firmware errors, and a number of non critical firmware errors.
• Adapted three firmware test scripts to be compliant with a new type of hard drive (~2000 lines of code each).
Teledyne Controls, El Segundo, CA Summer 2013
(Designs and manufactures electronic systems for the aviation industry)
College Technical Intern
Test new compact flash memory cards for the WGL Comm+ product
• Debugged problems outside of the scope of intended testing, including unit specific software errors, corrupted RAM, and operating software errors.
• Automated log file reading using Bash shell scripting in Linux (AWK, grep, sed).
