Work History / background
Honda of America Manufacturing from 6/19/89 until 4/9/15.
• Independently sought out opportunities to guarantee “The right parts, at the right time, in the correct quantities”, and mitigate additional Crisis management needs.
• Analyzed Honda’s third largest OEM (Aisin), to meet a new Capacity Plan. Personally found that the supplier would have been unprepared to meet the plan. Results of activity required supplier to build an additional Line, add Equipment, and Manpower. The changes necessary took a year to put into place, but avoiding unmentionable downtime and cost to Honda.
• Wrote and worked with research and development to get hundreds of design changes passed/implemented that have saved Honda more than $100,000/year.
• Capable of working with both domestic and international suppliers with extensive experience working in Asia. Able to work across cultural barriers with North American, Asian, & European Suppliers and Designers to get effective results and communication. Basic understanding of Japanese Language with reading & writing skills. Japanese Hiragana, Katakana, 200 plus Kanji.
• Lead activities for key parts quality maturation for the 2015 CR-V (Motor Trend SUV of the Year) by working with supplier OEM’s on commodities quality maturation such as stamping and welding. Experience in Injection Molding with emphasis on developing approved Texture, Gloss & Color Harmony. Supported suppliers in developing Assembly, Ergonomics, and ease of Manufacturing processes.
• Able to execute and train others to the Business Plan, via Specified Action Plan (SAP), with Quality Tools such as Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA), Process Quality Control Table (PQCT),capturing critical control points on Inspection Data Sheets (IDS), Develop Product Validation (PV) Test Plans, Lot Control, and First In, first out (FIFO). Receiving Inspection for Quality confirmation, and Design Change Level at OEM, and Receiving Warehouse. Support all facets of Hands On, New Model Build Events in Factory. Including Containment, and Retro fitting when required.
• Assigned as Lead Evaluator working Domestically and Internationally for Bullet proofing processes, robustness & reliability up, cost & weight down, & strength up with Honda suppliers
• 26 years of experience with program management and problem solving.
• Worked on the 2006 Honda Civic Program (Motor Trend Car of the Year) and played an instrumental role in initiating Tooling go with Global suppliers, minimizing the risk of design changes, and ensuring the suppler met the tooling maturation goals for the project.
