PROJECT EXPERIENCE

Robotic Thermal Characterization System with Binghamton S3IP Sep. 2014 - May 2015
• Worked in a team of 4 multidisciplinary undergraduate engineering students to design and build a line-follower robotic system to map the thermal environment in a data center at varying heights between 1 to 9 feet
• Integrated a system to record temperature values of server racks within a range of 30° to 90°F with a tolerance of ±1.8 °F and incorporated a script which sorts collected data and generates a thermal map
• Designed robot chassis in PTC Creo to minimize obstruction of air flow from ventilated floor tiles while meeting height requirements and fabricated chassis using band saws, drill presses, taps and other machines and tools
• Performed finite element analysis on various critical components to determine stresses and factors of safety
• Created a prototype of fastening mechanisms using MakerBot Replica 3D printer
• Coordinated weekly team meetings with faculty advisor to provide updates on the project

Thermal Characterization and Analysis of Microprocessor Oct. 2014 - Nov. 2014
• Modeled and analyzed the heat distribution of a microprocessor chip due to heat sources and sinks using MATLAB
• Derived the discretized form of different equation used to define boundary conditions of the processor and implemented finite difference method to compute heat distribution behavior
• Documented a technical report detailing calculations, derivations, theories, accuracy of written code and findings from heat response 3D plots generated by MATLAB

SHPE Ant Challenge Competition (1st Place) Sep. 2014 - Dec. 2014
• Directed a team of 7 multidisciplinary undergraduate students as lead mechanical engineer in designing a robot to traverse a multi-terrain maze to pick up loads of varying weights within a 5 minute time limit with a budget of $100
• Prototyped and fabricated the chassis and pick-up arm using MakerBot Replica 3D printer
• Prepared a presentation providing the preliminary designs, the design process, functional decomposition, calculations and analysis, budget and schedule and risk assessment for preliminary design review

Adjustable Forearm Crutch Redesign and Analysis Feb. 2014 - May 2014
• Redesigned traditional crutches for users ranging from 4'10" to 6'4" and weighing up to 300 lbs to accommodate up to the 97th percentile of adults living in the United States and implemented an adjustable forearm rest mechanism
• Simulated stress and force analysis on important connectors and joints using finite element analysis on PTC Creo
• Researched and analyzed materials to determine cost efficiency and used strength properties to verify factors of safety
• Applied Pu...
