Managed Engineering staff; Civil Engineers, Inspectors and Engineering Technicians. Managed Capital Improvements projects for the City supporting Utilities, Public Works and Parks and Recreation. Tasks consisted of developing conceptual designs; writing requests for proposals/qualifications; designing small projects; managing design consultants and conducting public and in-house review meetings. Assured timely project completion through the processing of pay requests; managing the inspection, permit and construction contracting processes and assisting with grant applications. Reported to citizen groups, City Boards, and Commissions on the status of projects. Managed permitting in the City’s Rights of Way for franchise and private development. Developed monthly reporting database and interactive web map for reporting project status. Implemented Enterprise GIS system for use City government wide.

Worked as project manager, study director and design engineer on a number of complex engineering projects in the South Florida area. Managed group of engineers on a variety of water and infrastructure projects for local governments and Federal government agencies. Was responsible, as a Senior Engineer, for day to day management of group of junior engineers, communicating with corporate senior management, dealing with customers on technical issues and bringing projects to fruition in an efficient and timely manner. Typical accomplishments included engineering a new sanitary sewer system, two pump stations, miles of new water main, and miles of reclaimed water mains for the for Key Biscayne, Florida . This project presented the challenge of retrofitting established neighborhood with narrow rights-of-way with new infrastructure.

Was responsible for the review of land development plans for compliance with Town ordinances and regulations relating to storm drainage and erosion control, and assisted citizens with civil engineering-related issues. Typical accomplishments included managing a non-point source pollution study of Broad Creek, developing a disaster debris removal/management plan for Hilton Head Island, and designing and implementing directional signage systems for parks and pathways.
