Project Engineer, Cost & Quality, December 2013 - Present
• Managed, designed, and executed Six Sigma design project addressing the leading contributor to new generation stand mixer warranty claims. The result was a 300% increase in reliability by improving the transmission gear design. Experience with: Identify contributing factors, process/ product mapping, root cause analysis, and design of experiments.
• Managed multiple cost, quality, and new model projects: developed test plans, sourced prototypes, managed schedules, coordinated lab resources, conducted laboratory testing, analyzed data, and wrote reports to communicate to internal and external customers.
• Evaluated current test procedures and implemented an improvement for stand mixer life testing, durability, and reliability. The new procedure uses dynamic variable load simulation to capture the actual consumer use of the product.
• Lead engineer for new sparkling beverage maker, cutlery block, and hand mixer products. Key responsibilities included installation, implementation, and ongoing engineering support.

Research & Development Engineer, Can and Automotive Markets, April 2011 - December 2013
• Assembled and directed team of engineers, technicians, and laboratory personnel during a project for Ball Packaging to solve a sporadic 5+ year quality issue of neck micro-wrinkles on beverage cans.
• Collaborated with customers and suppliers to bring new packaging products to market by managing the scheduling and activities of engineers and technicians on the Novelis Can Manufacturing Pilot Line. Delivered prototypes used to develop equipment and ultimately define capital investment requirements i.e. Budweiser Bowtie-shaped can, Belvac pre-forms.
• Led multiple technical service investigations and audits in customer facilities and from the Novelis Global Research and Technology Center. Determined root cause of customer issues and complaints, reported findings, and identified opportunities for improvement.
• Manufactured can end prototypes for customers and suppliers. Managed and conducted laboratory analysis.
• Analyzed surface microstructure of aluminum for automotive and can markets to predict coating and bonding failures to establish production floor quality control processes.
• Hired and trained engineers and technicians in the can manufacturing process and equipment, coating application, technical service, and laboratory testing.
• Managed the Personal Protective Equipment and Fall Prevention programs as an Environmental Health and Safety Program specialist, conducted training sessions and handled document control.
• Instructor at Novelis training seminars for employees, suppliers, vendors, and both foreign and domestic customers in the areas of can manufacturing and metal forming.
• Lead engineer responsible for relocation, installation, and commissioning of Can Manufacturing Pilot Line in Kennesaw, GA to meet grand opening deadline.
