Senior Project:
Designed and lead a four person team in building a remote vehicle capable of autonomous operations called, Rough Terrain Transport System (R.T.T.S.). The system is an all-terrain vehicle designed to deliver and retrieve trailered loads to and from environments hostile to human life, such as regions affected by nuclear, biological, or chemical events and actively hostile areas. Roles fulfilled within the project include team lead, lead software engineer and lead hardware engineer. MS Project was utilized to track and manage various project aspects to completion. Oversaw the power supply and communications systems, troubleshooting and failure analysis, and wrote approximately 1600+ lines of code in C++. The device is capable of GPS navigation, determining current heading versus a required waypoint heading, obstacle avoidance utilizing high-frequency sonar range sensors, and providing video feedback for ease of control. Methods of component connectivity include I2C, serial communications and RF communications. R.T.T.S. has electromechanical system with feedback controls for servo motor and brushed DC motor functionalities. The project was completed on time and met all design goals.
