Projects
Gonzaga University Engineering Senior Design Project – Avista Utilities Relay Lab: September 2014 to May 2015
o Collaborated with three other Electrical Engineering students and Avista Utilities to design a workstation to be used in Gonzaga University’s Avista T&D Power Laboratory.
o Developed academic laboratories and other documentation, such as wiring and one/three line diagrams, to be used in conjunction with Gonzaga University’s Electrical Power System Protection course and the completed workstation, which would allow students to gain experience programming microprocessor relays for different fault conditions and obtaining data before and after the relays are tripped.
o Tested various Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) relays (351, 411L, 451, and 487E) to create a prototype of a simulated power system with use of Lab-Volt equipment in conjunction with industry standard SEL equipment.
o Used SEL AcSELerator software to program, customize, and troubleshoot relay settings for optimal protection of feeder, transformer, and transmission line modules during typical fault conditions.
Gonzaga University Engineering SEED Challenge: December 2013 to April 2014
o Developed comprehensive business proposal regarding educational technology and networking by contributing to the prospective technical structure and proposed hardware.
Kern Entrepreneurship Education Network Rapid Prototyping Conference: November 2013
o Researched, planned, and developed a 3D model of a proposed retail laundry product while also analyzing the product’s financial impact.
Gonzaga University Micro-mouse team: October 2013 to May 2014
o Researched and experimented with sensors and peripherals of a motorized, self-directed robotic mouse.
Skills
Experience using three-phase power with elements such as induction motors, relays, transformers, and transmission lines in both physical test circuits and PowerWorld simulations, while performing theoretical calculations in PTC Mathcad.
