Technical Experience
o Executed engineering analyses primarily for Pratt & Whitney gas turbine engines. Worked on various components such as fans, compressors, turbines, and nozzles. Worked within multiple commercial and military programs including the F135 turbofan for the F-35, the F119 turbofan for the F-22, and the NGPF Geared Turbofan for BA C-Series and Airbus A320neo.
o Experience in LCF, strength, fracture, disk burst, gapping, and kinematics analyses. Result verification by hand calculations and/or comparing results to test data when applicable.
Specific Project Experience
ANSYS Classic
o Non-linear static analyses of gas turbine engine components with contact, orthotropic material properties, and large deflections.
o Extensive use of APDL integrated with TCL/TK to write macros - wrote several standard macros for company use.
LS-DYNA
o Set up and ran dynamic analyses including fan blade out and bird strike on full system models as well as smaller, more detailed models, with all meshing done in Hypermesh.
o Quasi-static analyses including axial blade retention capability assessments.
o FORTRAN user sub-routines - wrote routine to calculate beam failure given certain failure criteria.
